My homeland, the Philippines, may be small, but did you know that it is considered a giant, as far geothermal energy is concerned? In fact, it is considered one of the largest geothermal energy-generating countries in the world!
The Philippines, being a volcanic region located in the Pacific Rim of Fire, boasts of considerable number of high quality geothermal resources. This interesting bit of information, I found out, upon researching about geothermal systems over the internet.
However, the islands of my home country are widely dispersed and can be geographically “challenging” to explore and develop. This being so, it has become the main impediment in the acceleration of the rollout of geothermal heating and cooling systems in my country.
Such a shame indeed, considering that there are many benefits that may be derived from geothermal energy.
With the Earth steadily soaking up and absorbing heat from sun, everyday, more so in my homeland which is a tropical country, the potential of this energy resource, even from the smallest and most simple geothermal heat pump, is very promising.
I sincerely hope that the roadblocks posed by the geographical nature of the Philippines may soon be overcome, so that more people in my country can reap the benefits of this alternative energy source.Labels: Blogging, Electronics, Home and Garden |
