Boom Tarat Tarat |
Tuesday, January 23, 2007 |
I've heard a lot about Boom Tarat Tarat and thought it was a cool one.
Here's the story. Wowowee is one of the top-rated noontime television variety and game shows in the Philippines that awards cash and prizes to contestants playing various games. The show is produced inside Studio 3 at the ABS-CBN Broadcast Center in Quezon City, Philippines and premiered on Saturday, February 5, 2005.
The show airs every Monday through Saturday on ABS-CBN in the Philippines and on ABS-CBN Global’s The Filipino Channel around the world (in the United States it is also shown on imaginAsian TV network). In the Philippines, it is presently on live after Pilipinas, Game KNB? at 12:30 p.m. local time.
In the United States, the show is on tape delay where a new episode airs at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time (GMT-5) and repeats at 8:50 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. On the Saturday, a new episode also airs at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time and (GMT-5) rebroadcasts at 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
The show is hosted by comedian Willie Revillame, with co-hosts Janelle Jamer and Mariel Rodriguez. The on-camera assistant is Bentong. Joining the co-hosts on the Saturday edition is Precious Lara Quigaman.
Willie and his co-hosts goes to each section of the studio audience, says hello, allows some audience members to greet their family and friends watching (mainly the overseas TFC subscribers who came to see the show) and selects ten players interested in winning prizes in the "Bigat 10" segment. Currently Willie chooses someone from each part of the audience who can become a potential "Bigat 10" contestant by letting him or her sing and dance to "Boom Tarat Tarat", a song currently found on Willie's current CD Namamasko Po. (Since the January 1, 2007 episode, the lyrics to "Boom Tarat Tarat" have been modified to a non-Christmas, but still joyful theme.)
Wowowee has had great success with their Boom Tarat Tarat theme which was composed by Lito Camo and sang by Willie Revillame.
The song coupled with a unique dance step are popular with kids and adults alike which somehow helped boost Wowowee’s ratings. Eat Bulaga on the other hand, has come up with its own theme which they call “Itaktak Mo” or “Taktak”. It was sang by Joey de Leon and also has a dance step where one appears to be dribbling an invisible ball.
